Kate Martin, LCSW. PIP is an integral member of the Anastasis Center of Healing and Reconciliation. She brings to this healing ministry, years of of both clinical experience and spiritual formation. She holds a Masters of Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.. Kate is licensed by the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners as a Licensed Certified Social Worker.  She is certified by the Alabama Board for Private Independent Practice in: Social Work Casework; Social Work Administration; and Clinical Social Work.For over a decade, she was associated with the Order of St. Benedict as an Oblate. The merging of "therapy" from clinical work and "healing" from the Rule of St. Benedict radiates throughout her work. Her experience as contemplative, lay monastic, wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother (“Nana”) is apparent in her ministry.

In the performance of her duties of  Psychotherapist and Spiritual Director at the Center   Center, Kate provides psychotherapy, spiritual companionship, forensic testimony for abuse victims, supervision of    newly licensed social worker’s, burnout  (compassion fatigue) prevention, provides continuing education seminars, serves on local and state mandated community committees and facilitates retreats. She also serves as a Instructor at the Auburn University's Social Work Program.

Kate is  an Associate of Stillpoint Ministries’ Retreat Leaders Program. She is also the Coordinator of the Companions of Stillpoint; an intentional, ecumenical community of Christian seekers comprised of both ordained clergy and lay men and women.

 Kate is participating in the Education for Ministry Program of the University of the South's School of Theology.  Kate is currently participating in Year 4 (of 4).

Active in the Episcopal Church,  Kate is the Coordinator of Religious Education, a Licensed Eucharistic Minister, member of the Intercessory Prayer Team,  leads retreats, Lay Delegate to the Alabama State Convention and serves on the Vestry at her parish.

Kate is a member of numerous religious, spiritual and professional organizations. Some of them include: the NASW, The National Association of Christian Social Workers, Spiritual Directors International, PAX CHRISTI, The Companions of Stillpoint, the Board of Directors of Stillpoint Ministries, The American Society on the Abuse of Children,  American Society of Christian Counselors, Episcopalians for Peace and  The Benedictines for Peace.
