OUR MISSION STATEMENT
THE COMPANIONS OF STILLPOINT MINISTRIES ARE AN
INCLUSIVE COVENANT COMMUNITY ROOTED IN THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION. WE ACKNOWLEDGE GOD'S
REVELATION TO ALL PEOPLE. WE WELCOME THE WISDOM AND PRESENCE OF OTHER FAITH
EXPRESSIONS.
THE
PRINCIPLES OF OUR RULE OF LIFE
The Companions of Stillpoint Ministries commit to
the both the Companions and to the wider Stillpoint Ministries that we will
practice these principles in our life:
Stability:
In order to build balance and simplicity into our
lives, we will follow a path of stability. We commit to a life of regular
prayer, worship, study and service.
Conversion
In order to seek truth and wholeness in our lives,
we will be open to the grace of God calling us to the ongoing process of
conversion. We commit to attending to the inner rhythms of our days and lives,
seeking freedom from encumbering forces that limit our encounter with the Holy.
Obedience
In order to obey, we will listen, discern and
respond to God’s voice as revealed through scripture, the created world and
through relationships with ourselves and others. We commit to a disciplined
life which includes prayer, scripture, exploration of other holy writings and
sacred expression, study, retreat, worship and examen with the willingness to
respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Re-creation
In order to share in the joy, celebration and rest
that is reflective of the ever-creating activity of our lives in God, we are
conscious of our need for re-creation. We commit ourselves to the renewal of
body, mind and spirit through play, humor, passion-focused energy and
relaxation.
Stewardship
In order to ground ourselves in a sense of abundance
and grace, we will develop the habit of stewardship of the resources entrusted
to us. We commit ourselves to the wise and faithful management of our time, our
money, our bodies and God’s creation.
Action
In order to participate in God’s ongoing love for all
creation, we acknowledge our responsibility for compassionate action. We commit ourselves to service, social justice, peacemaking, prophetic action and
spiritual disciplines.
